The Policy outlines CGIF’s commitment and responsibility in ensuring the sound environmental and social performance of potential and outstanding guaranteed bond issuers. It aims to promote sustainable development practices that align with international standards and best practices in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.

Promote Environmental Sustainability

Support companies in identifying, avoiding, and minimizing their environmental impacts while improving resource efficiency

Policy Alignment

CGIF is dedicated to implementing robust Environmental and Social (E&S) risk assessment and management practices, leveraging globally recognized standard relevant to an issuer’s project and/or activities. CGIF collaborate closely with our multilateral development bank partners to continuously refine and strengthen our policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving E&S and ESG best practices and sector advancements.

Key Environmental and Social Areas

Environmental risks and impacts such as pollution to air, water, and soil; to health, safety and security risks of relevant workers and communities; threats to the protection, conservation, and maintenance of natural and critical habitats and biodiversity, ecosystem services, living natural resources and the maintenance of environmental flows; risks to cultural heritage; and climate change mitigation and adaptation risks and actions.

Social risks and impacts such as any impacts from land acquisition and land use restriction; adverse impacts on communities of Indigenous Peoples; risks associated with labor, working conditions and rights of relevant workers; the risk where the transaction impacts fall disproportionately on the disadvantaged or vulnerable people; and gender issues and other gender-related risks, including potential risks of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment, and digital risks.

Governance of E&S risk management of inherent corporate risks based on the Company’s commitment, capacity and track record to identify and address E&S risks at a level that is equal to or greater than the CGIF ESF and their ability to consistently address these E&S risks
