At CGIF, adherence to the highest standards of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance and integrity are the cornerstone of CGIF’s support to bond issuers. This ensures CGIF actively promotes sustainable growth across the ASEAN+3, and also provides a positive contribution to people and the planet.

The CGIF ESG framework identifies and address potential risks and/or impacts across the Issuer and their activities that are supported by CGIF guarantees, seeking to avoid or minimize negative consequences and enable positive contributions.

Environmental Stewardship
Protecting the Planet. CGIF assesses and finds solution to minimize or mitigate environmental risks and impacts, including climate risks of the transactions projects and activities that are supported by our guarantee.

Social Responsibility
Protecting the People. Our focus is to ensure economic growth and development is inclusive of people and community needs. This includes labour equality, respecting human rights, health and safety, child and forced labour and community protection, especially for vulnerable groups.

Robust Governance
Protecting the Investment. Upholding and promoting the highest ethical standards within CGIF and the Issuers we support through our guarantee provision. This extends to ensuring CGIF guarantee are not associated with money laundering, corruption, financial crimes or tax evasion.
Embedding ESG
ESG principles and assessment are an integral part of the decision-making process within CGIF. From initiation of a guarantee transaction through to post-issuance monitoring, rigorous ESG assessment remains a requirement. Due diligence across Environment and Social, Integrity and Governance standards is undertaken for every issuer and transaction to ensure they meet CGIF’s high standards.
Initial Screening:
Early identification of ESG risk, impacts and opportunities
Due Diligence & Assessment:
In depth evaluation of environmental, social, governance and integrity aspects of each transaction and issuer. This includes compliance with the CGIF Environmental and Social Policy and the Integrity Policy
Capacity Building:
Supporting issuers in developing an/or enhancing their own procedures and systems for improved risk management within ESG.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Supporting issuers to develop effective ESG monitoring and reporting frameworks. Continuous oversight of issuers’ ESG performance and portfolio risk through regular risk reviews, reporting and engagement.
