Ethical Investment Policy

Activities we do not support

To uphold CGIF’s commitment to sustainable and ethical development, we refrain from supporting certain industries or activities that conflict with our mission. This section outlines excluded sectors based on international standards and social responsibility criteria.

1. Production or activities involving harmful or exploitative forms of forced labor¹ or child labor².

2. Production of or trade in any product or activity deemed illegal under host country laws or regulations or international conventions and agreements or subject to international phaseouts or bans, such as
       (a) pharmaceuticals³
       (b) pesticides and herbicides⁴
       (c) ozone-depleting substances⁵
       (d) polychlorinated biphenyls⁶ and other hazardous chemicals⁷
       (e) wildlife or wildlife products regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora⁸
       (f) transboundary trade in waste or waste products⁹

3. Production of or trade in weapons and munitions, including paramilitary materials.

4. Production of or trade in alcoholic beverages, excluding beer and wine¹⁰.

5. Production of or trade in tobacco¹⁰.

6. Gambling, casinos, and equivalent enterprises¹⁰.

7. Production of or trade in radioactive materials¹¹, including nuclear reactors and components thereof.

8. Production of, trade in, or use of unbonded asbestos fibers¹².

9. Commercial logging operations or the purchase of logging equipment for use in primary tropical moist forests or old-growth forests.

10. Marine and coastal fishing practices, such as large-scale pelagic drift net fishing and fine mesh net fishing, harmful to vulnerable and protected species in large numbers and damaging to marine biodiversity and habitats.
